of all the just common everyday things across the world, grocery stores, parks, highways, what have you there’s something really different about pharmacies in the us vs pharmacies in other parts of the world, like a CVS or RiteAid or what have you is a considerably different vibe than a pharmacy in chile or france or bulgaria like the vibe in these pharmacies are all more consistent with one another than whatever is going on in the us pharmacies which feels distinct maybe cause they often just feel like stores with a hidden pharmacy section in the back whereas the centrality of the pharmacy aspect in other countries doesn’t seem to feel like it’s hiding that it’s a place you get medicine and medical care items?

can someone confirm this feeling like the more i write this the more unhinged i feel

the design of an american pharmacy, CVS or walgreens or whatever in my experience you go in the store and you are in a makeup section almost immediately, turn and maybe you can print some photos, turn and maybe you can get some groceries, beverages, some holiday decorations, you wander around and the store treats you like a consumer, you need more stuff well here it is, you wonder if the seen on tv section has anything to offer, maybe eventually you find your way towards the supplements aisle then you might find some people you give your prescription to and you get your medicine or whatever you need, you see whether or not insurance deigns to support you being a person in a body today or not. the store treats you like a consumer, not a human being with needs.

design of other non-US pharmacies i’ve been to: you enter a small space that has many modules protected by a screen, pharmacists are there to talk to you about what you need and help you find it, sometimes if you don’t have a prescription it’s not a problem they’ll get you the medication you need anyway and might offer you the cheaper bio equivalent. the store is there to help you keep your biological processes functioning.

I've been throwing a lot these last two weekends! Two weekends ago, threw the set of 4 wide mugs, and the set of 5 tall mugs. During the week, I handled the first set and painted, chattered and handled the second set. This last Sunday, I threw the set of 4 bigger bowls.

Mostly in a clay known as Sea Mix, but with the first set of handles in the the old white clay I've been used to throwing. I see I called it Vashon White before in a post here, but I think it might actually be something called New Core. It's groggier, and I have some left, so I might try to make another round of bigger bowls with it - hopefully with thicker walls for better support.

The two rounds of mugs are looking good, but I bailed on my original bowl shape after the first one and did vertical walls instead. I think I just had walls which were almost too thin at the bottom to support the angle I wanted. I need to instead have a thicker base, and only thin out the walls near the top. Should be easier if I use like 4 or 5 lbs of clay rather than the 3lb/piece I used for this set.

Last pic is 2 of the first set that have been bisque fired, and should show the difference between the two clay bodies.

this is the one I posted about last - a mug I didn't end up handling, that I made before everything above. But hey it's glazed now, and looks nice at least.

I should also mention - this will be the last piece I made before getting shammy leathers! For all the mugs above, and the bowls, I used a shammy leather to make a smooth, round rim. Haven't glazed any of them yet so I don't know how much actually nicer it'll be, but it certainly looks smoother.

This mug, despite having a pretty thick rim, still has a sharp rim - the glaze doesn't sit super evenly on it, and it's not the most comfy to drink from.
